Electronic Information Sharing between the Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance and Canada Revenue Agency
Background
- To ensure that income assistance goes to those who are eligible, ministry staff verify clients'taxpayer information with that held by the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance applicants and clients sign a consent form to authorize the release of their taxpayer information from Canada Revenue Agency.
New Procedure
- Taxpayer information will now be shared electronically between the Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance and Canada Revenue Agency.
- Electronic information sharing is secure, fast and reliable. All data to be shared is encrypted and no information is ever released to a third party.
- Clients will no longer need to go to local Canada Revenue Agency offices for copies of their tax information to release to the Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance.
- The categories of taxpayer information that will be shared electronically are:

- Marital
